Many of these new online companies failed in 1999 and 2000, but Amazon had covered the potential for growth and was not pulled down by these partners, even though for some such as Pets.com it had an investment of 50%.
Now it does show you the Google search traffic as opposed to the Amazon search traffic so it’s not 100% correct, but it will give you a really good idea. If you see consistent spikes every year, that means it probably is a seasonal item.
“Selling on Amazon US from the UK isn’t as difficult as people might think. While I recommend starting out selling in the geographic area closest to you to get the hang of things, one of the best parts is expanding. When we have things manufactured for my table tennis company, we have shipments made to the various countries that we sell in and make sure to set amounts accordingly. It really just becomes a matter of logistics and organization.”
So, let’s see: selling directly to Amazon puts you on the right side of the future, is easier and leads to more sales. Keep in mind; this doesn’t mean it is right for everyone, but it certainly is an option.
There are very good reasons to have your own online store, and yes, people CAN find it on Google; at least they can find mine. People will buy from you if your postage is reasonable, since Amazon’s postage is very high. And with your own store, you are not forking over 100% of the purchase price to Amazon (I get only that high postage to cover printing, postage, and a few cents of profit,)
6. Focus: Perhaps most important of all, you have to learn to focus on the right things to get the right results. This is a business. This is YOUR business. You’re not here to play around. You’re here to create value and sell that value to the right people. And above all you have to work on YOUR business not in your business.
