Who are your competitors? How are they doing business-wise? Are they about to retire? Most businesses sell for two to five times their annual earnings or profits, and many parties who are interested in selling end up simply closing shop after not finding an interested buyer. Many times, you may be able to pick up a business that, when combined with a business you already own, could pay for itself within 12-18 months. This is one of the most expensive but quickest ways of reaching $1 million a year in sales. (To examine the flip side argument, read 7 Steps To Selling Your Small Business.)

That was excellent information. Just wondering if there was a difference in the attitude you received from self made 1st generation millionaires and millionaires that inherited theirs? Were they both equally willing to talk with you if the there was no monetary payback incentive or publicity for them. I am friends with various kinds of millionaires and some love to share their knowledge and others guard their privacy too much or want to be paid to talk with random strangers. I understand and respect both. What was your experience?

I’m going to tell you about all kinds of legitimate ways to make money online.  Since we are talking about legitimate jobs, you’ve got to be…well, legitimate. Many of these options are real jobs that require you to put in hours if you want to get paid. They also require real work. Here are some tips for actually getting the job:

An easy job; doesn’t pay well, but also a quick way to make some money. Sign up on eLance or oDesk to start, and/or advertise your services in entrepreneur forums. Requires good hearing and a good command of the English language. You may also want to invest in a foot pedal if you plan to transcribe often. Make sure you know how to transcribe interviews before you start your first job.

“Avoid decision fatigue,” writes Tucker Hughes, who became a millionaire by 22. “Attention is a finite daily resource and can be a bottleneck on productivity. I think too often we look at a big number and then think it’s so big we’ll never get there. I think if people would set goals and then create a financial bridge to get there that we would have more millionaires walking around.

If you have a brilliant business idea and have always wanted to start a business, you have an amazing opportunity to start small with whatever little you have. Many business owners find that it is only through listening to customers and/or trying to offer a dozen business services or products that they finally find one that really resonates with their target market and takes off in terms of sales. Each experiment that you try will teach you something about your business and customers. Many of the largest, most successful companies have market-tested thousands of products to develop their portfolios of one- to two-dozen existing product offerings. Hard work creates luck and if you experiment long enough, you will find something that sticks.

Million-dollar math: A product like Quirky’s popular power strip, Pivot Power, retails for $30. More than 665,000 of the items have been sold. If you assume the inventor, 24-year-old Jake Zien, gets $3 to $9 per sale, the idea easily makes him a millionaire.

I personally love anything to do with affiliate marketing. One site I usually promote is the company Envato (Mainly because I am a web designer). They have a website called http://themeforest.net. They have an affiliate program where if you drive traffic to their site and they pay for something, you get a portion of the profit.

It’s not the balance of your checking account that’s stopping you. Or the balance of your investment accounts. It’s not your heritage, your skin color, your location, your intelligence, your lack of innovative ideas, or your bad luck.

Its not easy to be a trillionaire, and is indeed extremely unusual. Having an aim like this is liable to set you on a path of being obsessed with money making at the cost of many important things in life, such as family, friends, time, your inner self, and more. Decide whether that is truly worth it or whether wealth creation involves more than just money for you. If you’d like to be financially healthy, you can begin by ensuring that your business ventures are useful, needed and profitable.

You’re either 100% on or 100% off. While working, you can get more done in a few hours than most people get done in a number of days.

Check your self-confidence. If it’s low, now is the time to build it up. High self-esteem and good self-confidence are essential traits to help you on your way. However, don’t let this delay you. You can fake it until you make it and the more you practice being confident, the sooner it becomes a part of who you are.[5]

  1. I experimented with this in 2008 and made over $800 from one interview. The key here is to understand a pain point that people are experiencing, interview an expert, and ask the expert the questions that the people experiencing the problem are having. Then create a small website and sell the interview. There’s more to this, including having good copywriting skills so your website sells the interview well, and knowing where to advertise, so don’t expect to immediately pull in hundreds of dollars. That said, it’s a neat way to quickly create a product. Get the interviews transcribed, then string a few interviews in the same industry together as a membership site or bundle that you can sell for more money.
And of course there’s its cutesy name that makes it sound more like a stuffed animal than quasi-apparel. Whatever the magic marketing recipe is, creator Scott Boilen is rolling in a few hundred million. By our math, it’s about $200MM to be exact (20,000,000 Snuggies sold x $19.95/2 items = a truckload).
10% isn’t a likely return:  The historic 100 year average for US Stocks, dividends included, is around 10%.  Not great at investing?  Go open a Scottrade or Fidelity account and put the money in a highly diversified stock fund like SPY or VTI.  Put your 10% or 20% in every month, and don’t touch it for 25 years.  That will get you pretty close to 10% returns.
[Sidebar: And that’s why there are so many fake positive reviews on the MTTB system. All they are claiming how successful they are now while desperately trying to pitch you into buying the same program.]
