I have no doubt that these hedge-fund guys are very bright fellows and that the ones who make it to the top possess intelligence, foresight, and obscure knowledge. But really, are these hedge-fund guys so much brighter than those who create and manufacture everything

The fictional character Ryan Mathews is a scam affiliate marketer, he employs shady tactics in affiliate marketing, which involves signing up to a system that does not work for the customer, but pays out a commission to the person promoting the product.

When I was in my early 20s, I didn’t think becoming a millionaire at 35 was even possible. Back then I didn’t have much money, but the little extra that I did have I saved and invested. So this is proof of what can happen when you do that:

I found a great way to make passive income online. I look for sites that can earn daily interest of 2,3,or even 4%. A lot of sites are out there, but some yeild more than othere and are good, real money earners. They are affiliate driven with no sponsorship required and have done quite well in a short period of time. Here are a few to look at.

ATMs and vending machines – This requires a bit of upfront investment and sales skills. You need to buy the machines and then make contracts to place those machines in a variety of destinations based on volume of traffic. Still, you can get up and running relatively quickly with this passive income stream.

Most creators started small. Look at Richard Branson, he started the Virgin Brand with a student magazine. Other examples include Facebook which was started at Harvard and Google started at Stanford with the objective of helping people find information efficiently. Throughout the growth of Google, the company has added more services, yet they continue to focus on one thing only, finding information as quickly as possible.

Millionaires are defined in different ways. RBC Wealth Management and consulting firm Capgemini who produce the World Wealth Report say it is someone who has $1 million or more in investible assets — not including items like your primary home or consumable goods you own. On the other hand, international mega-bank Credit Suisse defines it as someone with a net worth of at least $1 million. This net worth could include the value of your primary residence, money that’s been invested in real estate or trust funds (known as non-liquid assets), and cash, stocks or bonds (liquid assets) [source: Frank, Stern].

So you know about some of the powerful savings tools, but you may be wondering where you get the extra cash to invest. Well, there can be a number of places – it first starts with your budget. Match up your monthly income with your expenses for the month. Can you cut back on your dining out? Do you really need that manicure once a week? Can you save money on your current insurance? Try shopping around for other carriers for better rates. Do you really need permanent life insurance (whole or universal life) when you could be saving hundreds with term insurance? (see Buying Life Insurance: Term versus Permanent)

It is also important to remember that real estate is part of your investment picture, but it shouldn’t be all of it. Too many people stake almost everything they have into a primary residence and expect it to appreciate in value. Just like any investment, generally speaking, over time you will make money. There isn’t much debate about that, but relying heavily on real estate is no different than if you rely on one stock to fund your retirement. So, begin with opening up an investing account and put your money to work. It doesn’t matter if you are investing in stocks, bonds, or index funds, but keeping costs down helps you keep more of your own money. One of the best and cheapest places to start investing is at TradeKing.

I advocate for the Tim Ferris, multiple income stream strategy. It’s important to have a diversified portfolio and automatic income streams that supplement your basic income earned through work. Selecting the best investment and income streams requires a person do the research, but very basic strategies can be employed that grow the money nest. I think the article is right to say it’s better to earn rather than save more than you spend, because saving money can depend on very specific contexts, while earning money tends to be more predictive. Good article.

  1. Ok… just as I thought! The more I listened to the video it began to start sounding very familiar. Ryan Matthews is either an affiliate or a partner, more than likely a partner who has purchase the MLR program with a company called MOBE and that beautiful video and the “My Millionaire Mentor” program is Ryan’s funnel to get people into MOBE. The $49 is the cost for one of MOBE’s products called, the MTTB System. Although, there is no mention of MOBE or MTTB in any of Ryan’s sales materials or sales funnel, when you enter your email address, you are taken to the MOBE, MTTB System page to pay the $49. So, “My Millionaire Mentor” is merely a sales funnel to get people to join MOBE. I hope this helps 🙂
Live on less than you earn. I’m not suggesting you make your own soap and avoid taking showers to save money, but focus on living responsibly. If you can’t live financially smart now, you’ll never be financially wealthy later.
In March 2006, original producer Celador announced that it was seeking to sell the worldwide rights to Millionaire, together with the rest of its British programme library, as the first phase of a sell-off of the company’s format and production divisions. Millionaire and all of Celador’s other programmes were ultimately acquired by Dutch company 2waytraffic. Two years later, Sony Pictures Entertainment purchased 2waytraffic for £137.5 million.[59] The format of the show is currently owned and licensed by Sony Pictures Television; however, the U.S. version is distributed not by Sony but by the Walt Disney Company’s in-home sales and content distribution firm, Disney–ABC Domestic Television.
Well, that’s exactly the right question(s) to ask! See, most business owners never think this deeply about their funnel. Failing business owners often have just one question on their mind, and that’s “how do I make more money?”
In addition to the tax deferral, many employers match employee contributions to their 401(k) accounts. If your employer offers a match, it would be very wise to take advantage of it — otherwise, you’re just leaving free money on the table.
