You can fake it until you make it and the more you practice being confident, the sooner it becomes a part of who you are.[5]

Changing career takes a long time from the moment you make the decision – which is often delayed because of procrastination. If you know the ship is sinking – like I currently do – then get out of there faster than Jumping Jack Flash.

Simon, who is the author of Build a Brand in 30 Days has advised British Airways, Barclays, Aviva, Prêt A Manger and The Broads National Park on branding, will explain to EBA delegates why you should increase your marketing activities during recession and that you  should also consider increasing your prices. “In a recession everybody goes price-cutting crazy, but whilst that will generally give a short term sales boost it how long to become a millionaire calculator also do long term damage to your brand, dragging you into commodity hell. If your brand really wants to win a place in the psyche of the market place, being cheap isn’t necessarily going to help.”

Right now, my career is down the drain. Everything I have worked for has begun imploding through a series of unrelated events such as restructures, people moving on, lack of understanding, shifts in the market and a change in focus.

Overall, there is a general lack of trust in the industry, with a few leading minds that are at the forefront of this delicate and intricate field of online marketing. But by learning and truly understanding this industry, arming yourself with the right knowledge wielded with integrity, the opportunities are endless.

You’ve probably heard of shell companies, tax havens and offshore trusts. But how common are they? How many people use these techniques as a way to squirrel away money from the prying eyes of taxpayers, governments and non-billionaires? What exactly did these Panama Papers reveal?

Not many people have become millionaires by for working for a living. Earning money is bottom of the pile, followed by making money, then finally top of the list is creating money… out of thin air. That’s what I am aiming for.

Over time, however, nothing beats passive income. No matter what sacrifices you have to make, if you focus on passive income, your future money-making self will thank you for it. So, what are some examples of passive income?

Rule No. 7: Customer Service. You can treat each customer, new and old, like a real human being. “We intuitively sort of knew what we didn’t like in customer service everywhere else: automated calling trees, slow response times, poor problem solving, etc., so we made sure there was as little friction as possible between the customer contacting us and actually getting their problem solved.” When you are a small business, there’s no excuse for having poor customer service. Your best new customers are your old customers, and the best way to touch your old customers is to provide quick help when they need it. Customer service is the most reliable touch point to keep selling your service to them.

In a career crisis, the best thing you can have is options. The moment my own career went into meltdown I rang every recruiter I knew. I pre-warned them months in advance. When my fate was set in stone, I sent them my resume and told them I was available.

Don’t be greedy. Pay yourself and your bankers the industry-standard compensation ratio of 50% of revenue. Your revenue was $400 million, so that creates a $200 million bonus pool. Pay each of your unemployed friends bankers, say, $1 million. And give yourself the rest for being such a smart entrepreneur and creating all the jobs and value.

Stop watching TV. But everyone watches TV. Yes, couch potato the third, that’s why so few ever become millionaires. While you are watching TV, your competition, the more successful and the people you envy are all making money. Stop watching TV. In fact, cancel it if you always give in.

Subscription-based models and membership programs sell a customer once and earn a profit every month as long as you keep those customers happy. An example of this is a website information portal selling a service provider directory listing. The website charges $99 a month and receives that payment every single month of the year as long as the website remains popular and relevant. Passive income models could incorporate a low monthly fee for on-demand customer service or maintenance, subscription access to exclusive coaching or a newsletter with interviews, book reviews and market analysis on your industry.

Clearly, making money online is no simple feat. If it were, the world would be filled with far more so-called dot-com millionaires. If it were really that easy to get rich in life by clicking a few buttons, typing some lines of code and shooting off several dozen emails, don’t you think that more people would do it?

If you’re in the time and effort economy, you are focused on being busy. You actually believe the amount of time and energy you put into something merits praise. Conversely, when you are in the results economy, you are only focused on achieving a specific result.

Education truly is a “silver bullet” for all that ails you. A college degree is called the Million Dollar Gift as it typically provides one more than a million dollars ($1.2 million on average) in additional lifetime income (of course, it should be a degree in something that’s marketable). Did you know many top “for-profit” schools (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, etc.) provide free tuition for those from families making less than $60-$75,000? Did you know a minority of students are accepted into college just on grades (good thing for me)? And, did you know there’s about $16 billion in aid and that most of it is not merit based? Finally, it is said the “rich” usually plan for three generations while the “poor” only plan for the weekend. Good advice from Rich Dad Poor Dad is to build a financial plan (with a professional planner) and then do it again. A financial plan should not be about getting rich but to primarily just help identify what’s important to you. Plus, it’s difficult to improve what you don’t track.

Wanting money doesn’t make you selfish, materialistic, or evil. Money gives you the means to lead the kind of life you want: fulfilling, interesting, secure, and independent. Being financially rich gives you choices so you can live a more rewarding life.

Want to become a millionaire? Making it happen in the next five years doesn’t have to be a fantasy. That’s the view of Steve Siebold, 50, author of How Rich People Think. Siebold, a self-made millionaire who consults for corporate sales teams and gives speeches across the country, says that in fact, people over 50 have the advantage when it comes to getting rich. That’s right: 50 is the new 40.
